Sarvam AI Hits $1.51B Valuation as NVIDIA Leads $74 Million Series B Extension Round
What is the news?
Indian artificial intelligence startup Sarvam AI has secured $74 million (approximately ₹698 crore) in a Series B extension funding round led by global semiconductor leader NVIDIA Corporation. Additional capital in the round was contributed by Glade Brook Capital, Gaja Capital, and several high-profile family offices. The fresh investment builds upon Sarvam’s earlier $234 million Series B raise and elevates the startup’s post-money valuation to $1.51 billion, solidifying its position in the global AI landscape.
Why is it interesting?
Founded by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar, Sarvam AI develops end-to-end artificial intelligence infrastructure, enterprise application layers, and large language models (LLMs) built specifically for complex multilingual environments. The company recently unveiled several landmark foundational models trained completely from scratch—including Sarvam 105B and Sarvam Vision—alongside an India-hosted inference platform designed to scale high-performance computing across enterprise, healthcare, and financial sectors.
NVIDIA’s direct strategic investment highlights the rising global prominence of Indian-origin founders driving frontier research and infrastructure development. With the newly acquired capital, Sarvam plans to expand its computing capabilities, accelerate research into agentic AI and cybersecurity applications, and deepen international research partnerships.
