Scaling Science: How ELMED Life Sciences is Taking Indian Microbiome Innovation to the Global Stage
What is the news?
ELMED Life Sciences, a Hyderabad-based biotechnology firm, has officially announced a successful $2.7 million (₹25 crore) Series A funding round led by NABVENTURES via the AgriSURE Fund. Founded in 2018 by Pruthivin Reddy Madduri and Nikhil Konkathi, the company has rapidly evolved from a regional probiotic manufacturer into a science-led powerhouse serving global markets. ELMED operates a sophisticated B2B model, supplying critical biological formulations to major pharmaceutical enterprise clients such as Aurobindo, Hetero, and Apex Laboratories.
Why is it interesting?
The significance of this milestone lies in ELMED’s multi-sectoral approach. By developing microbiome-based solutions for poultry, dairy, shrimp farming, and soil health, the company is tackling the global challenge of antibiotic resistance and chemical residue in the food chain. Currently exporting to 18 countries, the fresh capital is earmarked for expanding their Hyderabad manufacturing facility and deepening their R&D capabilities to meet rising international standards in Europe and Latin America.
As the global agricultural and healthcare ecosystems shift toward sustainability, ELMED Life Sciences stands as a prime example of the “Global Indian Alpha” founders leveraging deep technical expertise to build solutions that are not just “Made in India,” but “Innovated in India” for a global audience.
