AI Code Testing Startup Blacksmith Raises $45 Million Series B Led by Peak XV Partners
What is the news?
Developer infrastructure and AI code testing platform Blacksmith has officially announced the closing of its $45 million Series B funding round, bringing the US-based startup’s total valuation to $550 million. The funding round was led by Peak XV Partners, with existing heavyweights Y Combinator and Google Ventures continuing their financial backing. The raise marks a major milestone, bringing the company’s total capital raised to $58.5 million as demand for automated software verification accelerates globally.
Why is it interesting?
Co-founded in 2024 by Aditya Jayaprakash, Aayush Shah, and Aditya Maru, Blacksmith provides a high-performance cloud platform designed to run GitHub Actions continuous integration (CI) workflows. The company enables software engineering teams to execute CI builds and automated tests up to twice as fast while cutting infrastructure costs by half. Over the past year, Blacksmith’s customer footprint grew from 700 to more than 5,000 businesses, including prominent engineering teams at Mercury, Supabase, Clerk, Ashby, and Expensify.
The capital injection will be deployed to expand Blacksmith’s product suite into broader software development and validation tools. Beyond core CI execution, the company recently introduced Codesmith, an autonomous AI coding agent designed to automatically fix failed code checks. By delivering high-throughput, AI-driven testing infrastructure, Blacksmith reinforces the key role of Indian-origin tech entrepreneurs in building world-class developer platforms.
