Scaling Global Sportswear: Abhishek Ganguly’s Agilitas Sports Secures ₹225 Crore Funding from Nexus and Rainmatter

What is the news?

Vertically integrated sportswear and athleisure company Agilitas Sports has successfully finalized a ₹225 crore funding round, spearheaded by a ₹200 crore follow-on investment from Nexus Venture Partners and an additional ₹25 crore from Rainmatter. Founded in 2023 by Abhishek Ganguly the highly regarded former Managing Director of Puma India and Southeast Asia alongside veteran sportswear executives Atul Bajaj and Amit Prabhu, the company is fundamentally modernizing how sports footwear and apparel are conceptualized, manufactured, and distributed.

Why is it interesting?

Agilitas represents a sweeping structural shift in the global supply chain, positioning India as a powerhouse for end-to-end consumer goods manufacturing. The company heavily consolidated its infrastructure through the acquisition of Mochiko Shoes, a massive domestic footwear manufacturer that handles local production for premier international labels like Adidas and Puma. Additionally, high-profile partnerships, such as cricketer Virat Kohli transferring his sports lifestyle brand One8 to the company alongside a ₹40 crore investment, underscore the immense market trust in Agilitas’ operating model.

The fresh capital injection will be directly deployed toward accelerating product research and development, design infrastructure, manufacturing capacities, and regional expansion. With exclusive, long-term licensing rights to distribute the iconic Lotto sportswear brand across critical international markets including India, Australia, and South Africa, the founders community at Agilitas is actively proving that Indian-led intellectual capital can orchestrate global retail ecosystems.
