Ankit Lakhotia’s Udtara Ventures Unveils ₹250 Crore Fund for Global Frontier Engineering

What is the news?

Udtara Ventures, the Delhi-based venture capital firm founded by Ankit Lakhotia, has announced the launch of its ₹250 Crore Growth Fund. This strategic vehicle marks a shift toward specialized, high-impact sectors including defense, aerospace, and deep-tech. Backed by a conglomerate with five decades of industrial experience, the fund aims to fill a critical market gap supporting IP-led businesses that possess breakthrough technology but require specialized manufacturing and international distribution networks to scale.

Why is it interesting?

The fund will target 8 to 10 companies, offering checks between ₹40-50 crore. According to Founder Ankit Lakhotia, the objective is to act as a long-term partner rather than a traditional short-tenure vehicle. By helping portfolio companies navigate regulatory alignment and supply-chain development, Udtara Ventures is ensuring that the next generation of “Global Indian Alphas” can transition from local prototypes to production-grade systems on a global scale.
