Smallest.ai Secures $13M Series A to Build Ultra-Fast, Human-Like Voice AI Infrastructure

What is the news?

In a major milestone highlighting global innovation by Indian origin founders, Voice AI startup Smallest.ai has raised $13 million in a Series A funding round. The investment round was led by Seligman Ventures, with participation from Sierra Ventures and 3one4 Capital, pushing the company’s total cumulative capital raised to over $21 million. Led by founder and CEO Sudarshan Kamath, the company is focused on solving one of the most persistent hurdles in automated telephony: conversational latency and robotic cadences.

Why is it interesting?

Smallest.ai takes an innovative approach to voice interaction. Instead of routing voice interactions through heavy, slow-responding large language models, Smallest.ai deploys a compact, real-time voice model that processes speech, thinks, and speaks simultaneously with virtually zero lag. If a query requires deeper reasoning, the system hands off the task to a larger background LLM while placing the caller briefly on hold mimicking natural human communication flow.

The Global Indian Alpha narrative is strongly reinforced by Kamath’s vision of creating models that break the Turing test in enterprise customer support environments. Already partnering with global platforms like RingCentral and Truecaller, Smallest.ai plans to use the new funding to accelerate model refinement, broaden multilingual accent support, and expand its enterprise integrations globally.
