Pinegap Raises $8 Million Series A Led by Stellaris Venture Partners to Put Equity Research on Autopilot
What is the news?
Pinegap, an AI-driven equity research platform headquartered in New York with a technology center in Bengaluru, has successfully raised $8 million in a Series A funding round led by Stellaris Venture Partners. The round also featured participation from early investors including Inventus, Silicon Valley Quad, and DeVC. Founded in 2024 by Indian-origin founders Deepak Sharma and Ankit Varmani, Pinegap focuses on automating repetitive, labor-intensive research tasks for institutional buy-side analysts across hedge funds, mutual funds, and registered investment advisors (RIAs) in the United States.
Why is it interesting?
Unlike generic AI search tools or conversational chatbots, Pinegap works directly with asset management teams to build proactive, custom AI agents tailored to each fund’s specific investment philosophy, private datasets, and preferred output formats. These push-based AI agents automatically deliver earnings previews, thesis trackers, and company primers straight to an analyst’s inbox. To date, Pinegap has deployed more than 1,000 agents across over 100 institutional clients, producing upwards of 50,000 research reports per month.
The fresh capital will be directed toward expanding Pinegap’s go-to-market and sales capabilities in the U.S., scaling its engineering operations in Bengaluru, and establishing an in-house team of former equity research analysts. By freeing financial analysts from mechanical data extraction, Pinegap allows buy-side professionals to focus on high-value judgment and investment conviction—emblematic of how Global Indian Alpha leaders are driving AI innovation on the global stage.
