Scaling High-Integrity Carbon Removal: Prithu Secures ₹10 Crore Seed Funding led by Transition VC

What is the news?

Prithu, a Gurugram-based climate technology startup founded in 2024, has announced a successful ₹10 Crore Seed funding round. The investment was led by Transition VC, an energy transition-focused venture capital firm. Co-founded by Sunny Vaish, Prabal Tomar, and Abhinav Pandey, Prithu is dedicated to building a full-stack carbon removal platform that focuses on nature-based solutions (NBS), including regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, and biochar.

Why is it interesting?

The fresh capital will be used to expand the company’s on-ground operations across key Indian agricultural regions and to strengthen its digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) infrastructure. By integrating blockchain and machine learning with satellite data, Prithu ensures that the carbon credits it generates meet the highest global standards for transparency and integrity. This allows the startup to bridge the gap between rural Indian farmers and global buyers in sectors such as aviation, technology, and manufacturing who are seeking reliable carbon offsets.

With a strategic goal to sequester 20 million tonnes of CO2e by 2030, Prithu’s founders are showcasing the power of Indian innovation in the global fight against climate change. Their model not only tackles soil organic carbon depletion and agri-waste burning but also positions India as a primary hub for high-quality intellectual capital in the expanding $4 billion global voluntary carbon market.
