Unibose’s breakthrough as Asia’s first ATEX Zone-0 compliant robotics company shows exactly how Indian startups are building mission-critical automation that global industries desperately need!
What is the news?
- Chennai-based Unibose Technology has raised ₹5.5 crore in pre-Series A funding led by O2 Angels, with participation from IN44 Capital, Coimbatore Innovation and Business Incubator, and other strategic angel investors, following a ₹2.5 crore seed round from StartupTN.
- Founded by Manikandan Dakshinamoorthy, Samayaraj Durairaj, Sakthivel Panneerselvam, and Venkatesh Sundaramurthy, Unibose has developed Asia’s first and the world’s third ATEX Zone-0 compliant robot capable of operating inside live petroleum, chemical, and gas tanks with explosive gases and toxic residues.
Why is it interesting?
- Unibose’s robotics-as-a-service model enables industries across oil & gas, chemicals, fertilizers, and heavy industries to access life-saving automation without massive upfront investment. Their certified robots are already market-ready, addressing a critical safety gap that has been long ignored globally.
- O2 Angels’ Rajesh Ranjan specifically highlighted Unibose as “a true example of what Indian engineering can achieve on the global stage.” The startup’s expansion plans across India, GCC, and Southeast Asia, combined with their focus on AI-based inspection and compliance tools, positions Indian deeptech at the forefront of industrial automation safety.
