Aum Ventures Marks First Close of ₹750 Crore India Innovation Fund II to Scale Deep-Tech Startups Globally

What is the news?

Early-stage venture capital firm Aum Ventures has announced the first close of its second vehicle, the India Innovation Fund II, securing ₹225 crore towards a total target corpus of ₹750 crore. Underlining strong global investor interest in India’s innovation capabilities, over 65% of the initial commitments originated from international limited partners (LPs), including family offices, prominent entrepreneurs, and strategic investors across the United States, the Middle East, and other international corridors.

Why is it interesting?

The fund is dedicated to investing in early-stage, intellectual-property-led (IP-led) startups originating from India with clear global applications. Spanning key frontier sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, space tech, robotics, defence technology, aerospace, and energy transition, the fund plans to deploy initial checks ranging from $750,000 to $2 million across 25 to 30 companies at the Pre-Seed and Seed stages, reserving follow-on capital for Series A and B rounds.

Beyond providing capital, Aum Ventures offers crucial international expansion infrastructure, assisting portfolio companies with cross-border market entry, strategic corporate partnerships, and industry networks across India, the US, Israel, and the Middle East. Fund II builds upon the firm’s successful initial fund launched in 2023, which holds a gross MOIC of 2.23x and has backed category-defining companies such as Skyroot Aerospace, Azimuth AI, Cosmoserve Space, and Sully.ai.
