Space-Tech Startup Aadyah Aerospace Closes ₹31.5 Cr Series A to Fuel Cross-Border U.S. Acquisition

What is the news?

In a significant indicator of the maturation of India’s private deep-tech landscape, Bengaluru-based aerospace and defense startup Aadyah Aerospace has secured ₹31.5 crore (approximately $3.3 million) in a fresh Series A funding round. The investment was led by Helios Holdings, with Suraj Nalin investing ₹30.5 crore on behalf of the fund, alongside participation from angel investor Meenu Sharma. This capital injection pushes Aadyah Aerospace’s post-money valuation to an estimated ₹206 crore ($21.6 million), marking a 26% step-up from its previous pre-Series A baseline.

Why is it interesting?

Founded in 2016 by Chairman and Managing Director Shaju Stephen alongside a distinguished engineering bench of former ISRO scientists including CEO V Sunderarajan and CTO Pradeep Kumar Aadyah Aerospace specializes in building mission-critical propulsion systems, electro-mechanical actuators, and advanced avionics. Rather than allocating capital purely toward local operations, the board has strategically designated the fresh proceeds to finance the upcoming acquisition of a U.S.-based aerospace target entity. This cross-border acquisition gives the company immediate manufacturing and commercial infrastructure within the highly regulated Western defense corridor.

Aadyah Aerospace’s aggressive international posture is accelerated by its participation in the India-U.S. Defense Acceleration Ecosystem (INDUS-X), a bilateral initiative designed to integrate advanced technology startups with the U.S. Department of Defense and major international tier-1 prime contractors. Furthermore, the company stands out as a rare beacon of financial sustainability within hardware engineering, turning a net profit of ₹1.47 crore in FY25. This funding highlights a fundamental shift for the Global Indian Alpha narrative, where homegrown deep-tech ventures are migrating from back-office software services to actively owning physical hardware intellectual property across global markets.
