Deeptech Pioneer ZeroDrag Raises ₹6.5 Crore Seed Round Led by Transition VC to Drive Global UAV Avionics Infrastructure

What is the news?

In a major boost to the indigenous deeptech and aerospace landscape, drone avionics and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) sub-components pioneer ZeroDrag has successfully secured ₹6.5 crore in a seed funding round. The investment was led by energy and deeptech-focused Transition VC, marking a significant milestone for the Nagpur-based startup as it positions itself to supply high-performance sub-components to global drone OEMs across defense, logistics, agriculture, and industrial applications.

Why is it interesting?

Co-founded in 2022 by innovators Amit Nimje and Shantanu Bhede (who serves as the CEO), ZeroDrag has focused aggressively on designing an indigenous foundational hardware layer. The company specializes in building state-of-the-art autopilots, motor controllers, GNSS modules, telemetry systems, and communication infrastructure. By retaining an OEM-agnostic architecture, ZeroDrag’s systems seamlessly integrate with diverse global drone platforms, accelerating the market’s transition toward absolute autonomy and hardware reliability.

The newly acquired capital is earmarked for robust R&D expansion, upgrading automated testing and quality control infrastructures, and stabilizing international supply chain components. Looking ahead to the next 12 to 24 months, the co-founders plan to scale manufacturing capacities substantially and extend their engineering capabilities into heavy-lift drone hardware and electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) platforms. This funding firmly charts ZeroDrag’s trajectory into global deeptech corridors, showcasing the intellectual capital of Indian engineering on the world stage.
