AI Startup Emergent Joins the Unicorn Club with $130M Series C Funding
What is the news?
Emergent, an innovative AI software creation platform, has officially achieved unicorn status after securing $130 million in a Series C funding round. Led by private equity firm Creaegis, the funding round also saw participation from a powerhouse consortium of global investors, including Claypond, Sentinel Global, Khosla Ventures, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator. This landmark round values the company at $1.5 billion marking an incredible fivefold increase in valuation in just four months, and making it one of the fastest startups to reach the $1 billion threshold since its public debut just a year ago.
Why is it interesting?
Founded in 2025 by Indian-origin entrepreneurs Mukund Jha and Madhav Jha, Emergent is on a mission to radically democratize software development. The platform leverages autonomous AI agents to enable founders, small business owners, and non-technical teams to build fully functional, production-ready web and mobile applications such as CRMs, ERPs, custom marketplaces, and customer-facing tools without writing a single line of code. To date, more than 12 million applications have been deployed using Emergent, with nearly 70% of those created by users with absolutely no prior programming experience.
With this capital injection, the company plans to fast-track the expansion of its core platform, strengthen the intelligence of its autonomous agents, and scale its infrastructure to support its massive, rapidly expanding international user base. By stripping away the financial and technical barriers traditionally associated with software development, the Jha brothers are demonstrating how global Indian talent is redefining the future of entrepreneurship and digital creation on a global scale.
